ABOUT

Rah works with thermoplastic resin. She says she is attracted to this material for two reasons: 

1) its solid semi-translucent quality takes on unexpectedly different qualities when layered, an effect she calls “silver waves,” 

and 2) its adhesive quality bonds otherwise independent parts together, which calls up the idea of relation. 

Rah takes the latter idea further in the following: 

“Suppose I represent one single image using several square boards all connected. 

This image may appear complete in itself but will become something else if the boards are rearranged. 

We should pay more attention to how parts relate to one another. 

Image-making for me boils down to exploring this relation.”
