ABOUT

Kim begins her painting by mixing pigments of different densities with turpentine 

and pouring the mixture upon a canvas placed on the floor. 

She then moves the canvas to and fro, like panning for gold, until she likes what she sees in it. 

This can take as long and as many times as necessary in order to allow what 

Kim says “quiet intervention on the part of air, temperature, and humidity” in its making. 

Kim takes her inspiration from nature, 

especially how a life maintains its cycle of being in a larger scheme of things. 

Crucial to her mind is the process involved in such a symbiosis. 

To use another simile, it is like breathing. Or what she calls “quivering.” 

She has been a resident of Opo, Korea since 2004.
